My baby, Nina, turns 6

As we left Christ the King’s Sausage Fest (insert giggle here), I had to stop to catch my breath because of the pain. A guy slowly walks by me, his face turning white. My mother-in-law hurries to my side and says to him, “We’ve got her.”

I was in labor.

Just a few hours later, Nina Mae entered our world and made it clear it was her world — we were just lucky to be in it.

Since that day, she’s made us laugh and roll our eyes more than we thought was physically possible. We like to say that – socially – she could have started high school last year. It’s taken a bit longer for the academic side to catch up because, frankly, work just gets in the way of her play time.

Happy Birthday to our Neenie Bean.
